Leroy is a wine producer situated in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy. They craft a variety of wines primarily from Pinot Noir sourced from some of the most renowned vineyards globally, such as Le Chambertin, Musigny, Clos de Vougeot, and Romanée-Saint-Vivant.
It is regarded as being equal only to Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in terms of both price and quality. Wines produced from their estate-grown grapes are marketed under the Domaine Leroy label. Francois Leroy, a wine merchant from Auxey-Duresses, established the domaine in 1868. It saw expansion under his son Joseph and grandson Henri throughout the early 1900s. In 1942, Henri Leroy, in collaboration with Edmond Gaudin de Villaine, acquired Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, recognizing its significant potential. To prevent the splitting up of the estate, they jointly purchased it.
In 1974, Henri's daughter Lalou Leroy began co-managing Domaine de la Romanée-Conti alongside Aubert de Villaine. Lalou inherited Maison Leroy from her father after his passing in 1980. She departed from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in 1991 due to a disagreement with de Villaine, focusing her efforts on her own domaine.
Domaine Leroy expanded in 1988 with the acquisition of estates in Vosne-Romanée and Gevrey-Chambertin. With 21 hectares (52 acres) of vineyards, it became a complete domaine. The holdings encompass several grand cru sites in the Côte de Nuits, as well as Corton, eight premier cru vineyards, and vineyards under both village and regional appellations. While primarily red, Domaine Leroy also produces a few white wines from Chardonnay and Aligoté.
Lalou Bize-Leroy also owns and manages Domaine d'Auvenay.
