2015 Rocche dei Barbari Alivio Barbaresco Riserva DOCG
Italy / Piedmont / Barbaresco DOCG Rosso
Red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo. This is above average in popularity for Barbaresco wines. This wine has been becoming increasingly popular over the past year.
This deep brick-red Alivio Barbaresco Riserva from the small cult winery Rocche dei Barbari exudes aromas richly spiced with chestnut, tar, and roses. The floral sensations seamlessly transition into the palate, complemented by quirky notes of burnt firewood and old library books.
The wine is fresh, with tannins softening after a few hours of aeration. Substantial concentration and minerality herald a burst of beautiful aromas of ripe fruit in the finish. Black cherries and brambles dominate this rarity.
Fascinating is the experience of tasting different vintages of Alivio, feeling the expansion of the senses, and discovering how the art of time transforms colours and fragrances in emotions.
Alivio is unique as a wine, and expresses its unicity in a different manner, each single year.
And than, every vintage mutates over time in an unrepeatable way, elevating the wine contained in every bottle to the status of a unique distinctive creation, that can be savoured today or at decades and decades from now. Every Alivio Riserva, has developed beyond 5 years in the cellars before bottling. Extraordinary complex and elegant. Manifests the essence of evolution with exquisite and fragrant freshness.
One of Piedmont's greatest wine regions, Barbaresco rarely gets mentioned without a reference to its neighbor Barolo. Both are among the best expressions of the Nebbiolo grape and where Barolo can be austere and tannic, Barbaresco can be its warmer, more approachable counterpoint.
