2017 Château Talbot 4. Cru: An early vintage affected by the frost of April 27th. The situation close to the estuary protected the vineyard, and a limited number of vine plots were impacted. Blooming was generous, so finally a fair expected yield was achieved. June was beautiful and warm followed by a week of rain, then July and August were dry with cool night temperatures preserving acidity. The ideal climatic conditions of June allowed a fast flowering thus ensuring a homogeneous maturity of the grapes in September. The harvest was early and gave healthy and ripe grapes. From the first tasting sessions: A promising vintage for its complexity!
The Wine Cellar Insider/Jeff Leve 91/100 tasting notes vintage 2017: "Medium-bodied, with a floral, tobacco, red cherry and crunchy fruit component in its core, those characters, along with toasty oak shine through from start to the bright finish. Classic in style, give this some time in the cellar before pulling a cork".

Legend relates that the name of this imposing estate originates with Connétable Talbot, a famous English warrior, defeated at the battle of Castillon 1453. Talbot is one of the Medoc’s oldest estates, its glory never tainted. Through the years it has been fortunate enough to remain in good hands. The Bignon-Cordier family manages this Saint-Julien 4th Grand Cru Classé estate.
