2021 Domaine Guy Amiot et Fils Chas.-Mtr. 1er Cru Les Caillerets
France / Burgundy / Cote de Beaune / Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Blanc
Domaine Guy Amiot's Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets Blanc is an iconic wine. This plot was purchased when the domaine was founded by Arsène Amiot.
Partly replanted 30 years ago (vine age: 70 years old), it still incarnates the Chassagne-Montrachet white wines thanks to a great location/terroir: High in the Chassagne hill, on a dominantly limestony soil, facing the south-east, Les Caillerets bear a rich aromatic potential with powerful exotic fruit flavors and an elegant mineral line.
On a steep slope, on a hillside, planted in poor soil, the vine has no other choice than to produce little but to do it well: Enduring the dry summers thanks to its deep roots, its work consists of concentrating the best of the terroir (limestone bedrock near the roots and abundant sunshine) in its golden grapes.
