In 1814, Charles Palmer, a Major General in the British Army, purchased Madame de Gascq's property in Margaux and subsequently named it Château Palmer.

Now, over 200 years later, Château Palmer (3rd Growth) continues to write its own story from one vintage to the next. In 1938, four Bordeaux families joined forces to acquire Palmer: Sichel, Mähler-Besse, Ginestet, and Miailhe—all active in the Bordeaux wine trade.

Two of these families, Sichel and Mähler-Besse, are still owners of the estate.

Thomas Duroux has been the managing director and the estate's oenologist for many years. In 2014, all wines were certified as biodynamic.

The wines from the estate are complex and delicate, displaying elegance and a velvety texture. Aromas are filled with herbs, truffle, violets, earth, and leather. The accompanying 55 hectares are the foundation for the 1st wine Château Palmer 3rd Growth and the 2nd wine Alter Ego (the first vintage was produced in 1998).
