Château d'Armailhac (5th Growth) The cultivation of wine on this estate dates back to the 18th century. The Rothschild family acquired the property in 1934, and after several name changes over the years, the estate's first wine was released under its original name, Château d'Armailhac 5th Growth, in 1989.  The 70 hectares of vineyards annually produce nearly 18,000 cases of the first wine.

Chateau d'Armailhac can be enjoyed when young, but it often exhibits pronounced and unbalanced tannins. The wine typically benefits from eight to 12 years of aging in the bottle, although this can vary depending on the vintage's character. The best vintages can age for 10-25 years. Decanting for two to three hours is recommended. For older vintages (+15 years), decanting is only necessary to remove sediment.
