Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou (2nd Growth) is located in Saint- Julien and is one of the absolute largest wine producers in the area – both in terms of the castle, the vineyards, and the recognition of the castle's wines.
The castle's 75 hectares of vineyards are planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. The average age of the vines is 35 years. Approximately 228,000 bottles of the 1st wine Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2nd Growth and the 2nd wine La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou (formerly La Croix de Beaucaillou) are produced annually, which are considered to be among the best 2nd wines in Médoc! The castle also produces a 3rd wine, Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou.
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is named after the beautiful, large stones found in its unique wine-growing terroir. This exceptional ecosystem produces fine, elegant, flavorful wines, with a long finish – in short, typical Saint-Julien wines. Perched on an exceptional site with incomparable views over the Gironde estuary, centered on a hundred-year-old park, Ducru-Beaucaillou is a majestic, Victorian-style château, which has, over time, become one of the great symbols of the Médoc. Unusual for Bordeaux, it is built directly above the barrel cellars, enveloping its residing owners for over sixty years in the sumptuous aromas of their wine. Since his arrival in 2003, Bruno-Eugène Borie has focused on excellence, having transformed an already successful and respected château into one of the leading vineyards from the 1855 classification.
