Domaine Merlin

Domaine Merlin is located in Pouilly-Fuissé, Burgundy. Olivier Merlin is known as the wizard from the south. Domaine Merlin is based in the village of La Roche-Vineuse in southern Burgundy. Passionate about their craft, they create great wines from Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Both Olivier and his wife, Corinne, are natives, and the wines they craft from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Gamay can best be described with words like balance, purity, depth, and harmony. Olivier Merlin's first harvest was on a Mâconnais farm in 1977. Since then, he has not looked back. In 2012, he, along with his good friend Dominique Lafon, acquired the monopole vineyard Clos des Quarts in Chaintré, producing excellent wine under the Château des Quarts label.

Paul & Théo Merlin, from the town of Vergisson, were granted the lease of an area in Pouilly-Fuissé: Sur la Roche. The area is east-facing and covers nearly 10 hectares. Just over 7 hectares are planted with old vines, while the rest is fallow and expected to be planted in 2021.

In 2020, five of the vineyards that Domaine Merlin works with were granted Premier Cru (1er Cru) status. It is quite exceptional in Burgundy for vineyards to be elevated or declassified. A great accolade to Merlin for his intense and focused efforts!

• Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Clos de France (Vergisson)

• Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Aux Vignerais (Solutré)

• Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Les Chevrières (Chaintré)

• Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Monopole Aux Quarts
