2008 Chateau Saint-Pierre 4. Cru
France / Bordeaux / Medoc / Haut-Medoc / Saint-Julien 4. Cru Rouge
2008 Château Saint-Pierre (4th Growth) is as fine as the 2005! Splendid colour. A stylish wine that also packs a firm punch of dense fruit, spicy and distinguished, the thread is remarkable with firm and tasteful tannins, and mouthwateringly juicy acidity. Full of style. For medium-term aging.
Expert tasting notes: "Deep, dark, almost opaque ruby-red color. Cassis fruit on the nose has distinct leafy notes. On the palate dark fruits become a bit angular as tannins take over the mid-palate. There is plenty of new oak character and a good structure. Acidity is balanced and alcohol a little warming. The wine has OK length, but currently the structure closes-up the fruit on the finish, leaving the structure a little hollow".
